We left at 0530 PST from Eureka, Tennessee because we had a long 17-hour drive up to our nation's capital. We waved at Nashville when we drove past it and I was a bit sad that we didn't get to spend a little time there in the music capital. Oh well; next trip right, Allan?
We decided yesterday to head a little south because we've heard such wonderful things about the Smoky and Appalachian mountains and we're so glad we detoured a bit. Driving through these mountains reminded me of the drives we would take up to Kokee in Kauai. Lush, verdant landscapes, rolling hills and green canopies of trees made the drive really picturesque. I love Colorado because of its majestic mountains and pristine cleanliness but I must admit that I love Tennessee and North Carolina too. All three states is perfect for country living. Oh Lord, where will you lead our family?
We stopped to make lunch somewhere inside the mountains and the keikis had fun throwing sticks and skipping stones on the brook. Dad had fun acting like a kid again. After lunch we kept driving and driving and driving. It was long but at least the views were stunning.

We made it to Maryland around 0300 PST and camped out in the parking lot of Cherry Hill Park. At 0630 EST the park manager rapped on our window and told the only awake occupant { dad } that we had to move. So we jetted to Starbucks just down the street and waited until they opened. Ha!
