Driving these long distances really disorients me. I'm trying to remember what we did today. I remember driving out of Hinsdale at around 2300 and wishing the Starbucks we passed was still open. I remember driving through many toll booths and wondering why New York, Indiana and Illinois need them when their roads are so bad anyway. I remember trying to act all machissito { that's my feminine version of machismo, but way better } and attempting to drive all night long but my droopy eyelids prevented me so I pulled off into a rest stop to sleep. I remember waking up at 0530 and brushing my teeth before getting into the driver's seat. I remember thinking how beautiful Wisconsin looked in the near dawn of the morning. And when we passed into Minnesota and saw the state's vistas coupled with the mighty Mississippi winding its way north, leaving its banks a verdant green I remember feeling overwhelmed at God's beauty. I guess I remember more than I thought.

We welcomed our third Sabbath on the road at a park by the Missouri River. Mom and I cooked a much-needed Filipino meal, we bathed the keikis and had family worship with the setting sun behind us. After driving all day it was a welcome respite to stop, breathe, and remember the reason why we are here. Happy Sabbath!
